Okay this isn’t one of those rumor posts that has been flying around. It is real. Apple has released Intel Core Duo 2 iMacs at speeds from 1.83GHz to 2.33GHz. The new 24″ model is 40% brighter than the 20″ model at 16:10 resolution. There is also a new low end model at 17″ with Intel graphics, no bluetooth, etc. This is the same $899 iMac that was for sale that got pulled a few months ago, with the exception that it is Core Duo 2. The new iMac even includes Firewire 800. Apple has finally added the option to get the Wireless keyboard and wireless mighty mouse.
Apple today also increased processor speeds on both models of the Mac mini, delivering dual-core performance across the line at no additional cost. The $799 model now includes a 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo processor, up from 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo processor, and the $599 model now includes a 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo processor, up from a 1.5 GHz Intel Core Solo processor.
The Cinema Displays show “New Prices” at $699 for 20″, $999 for 23″, and $1999 for 24″.
The iSight is still showing a shipping date of October.
All of these announcements a week before the keynote. If Apple is releasing these products now, I can only imagine that a new iPod or media streaming AirPort Express are in the works.
