Updated Apple ads

Apple has posted 3 new ads in their “I’m a pc. I’m a Mac” campaign.

The ads are called “Out of the Box” talking about how a mac is ready to go the second you take it out of the box, and on a PC you have to download the latest drivers…etc you get the point.

Touche” which speaks about Boot Camp and how Macs now run Windows.

Work vs Home” talks about Apple’s iLife aps are fun where as spreadsheets and pie graphs on a PC…not so much.

  1. Wait, if macs are so good, than why would you want to run Windows? Wait, can Macs run Windows out box, right? Boot camp comes installed with all Macs, right? Windows on Mac runs faster than say, my Windows machine, right? Oh wait. That’s right. You have to install Boot Camp on a mac, so it can’t run windows right out of the box. Boot Camp is no where near as fast as native windows.

  2. Connor first off don’t ever comment on my site again. Second off the fastest Windows laptop is the MacBook Pro running Boot Camp. (http://www.digg.com/apple/Apple_MacBook_Pro_fastest_Windows_XP_notebook_ and http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/03/22/mac_fastest_core_duo_laptop/)

You are crossing the ideas of the commercials. All the Apple items that you would want to use work right out of the box.

If you want Boot Camp (which is a BETA product that will be FULLY included in the next version of OS X), then yes you do have to download it and run it. They never said in the ads that Windows runs right out of the box.

  3. Why wouldn’t you want Connor to comment? He’s made an argument.

The reason Macs work out of the box is because they have been limited on what hardware they run on and the devices it can use. Windows has the most extensive driver support. A Mac only has to support the Mac hardware it is packaged with. I agree, Darwin based OS X is a great distrobution, and contains a lot of handy packages (this has to compensate for the poor third-party production.)

Personally I run Windows XP and Xubuntu.

  4. Alright, that’s fair. Blocking him from commenting onyour blog cause you feel like it is also fair, after all, it is your blog.
