Apple today launched Remote Desktop 3. First let me mention it is a universal ap. There are over 50 new features, including Spotlight searches across multiple Tiger systems; over 30 Automator actions for automating repetitive system administration tasks; a Dashboard Widget that provides quick and convenient observation of remote systems; and AutoInstall for installing software automatically on mobile systems when they return online.
There is even a “curtain mode” where you have full control of the system, but the person can’t see what you are doing.
This sound like a great product, but at a price of $300-$500, it is waaaay out of the range of a “Help mom fix something quickly” edition. Apple does mention VNC, but it would be nice to have a solution like Remote Assistance on XP Pro.
If you are a network admin of mac systems, this is a no brainer. Buy it today.
